3rd International Salon for Peace Initiatives: Paris, May 30 - June 1 2008

The International Sufi School participated in the 3rd international Salon for Peace Initiatives held in the context of the “International Decade for the promotion of a culture of nonviolence and peace for children of the world (2001-2010)” declared by the United Nations in 1998.

This Salon, which was organised by the French Coordination for the Decade, took place in Paris from 30 May to 01 June 2008 at “Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie”.

On this occasion the stand of the International Sufi School welcomed more than 300 visitors. The latter were able to discover the different steps of the Initiatory Way to Peace, together with the model of socio-economic development that the School has elaborated in the village of Pout in Senegal.

The stand also offered a collection of books illustrating the lives of Peacemakers according to the Initiatory Way to Peace.

In addition, the visitors were informed of the short term peace training programme that the School will be offering from September.

An exhibition was held in parallel in Rosa Parks Hall on the steps of the Initiatory Way to Peace and the model for socio-economic development piloted presently by the School in Pout in Senegal.

Workshops for the youths were run on the theme “The world around you” to make the young public aware of the concept of responsibility in the culture of peace and nonviolence.

The School also held a workshop on the theme “Liberation Therapy”, the 2nd step of the Initiatory Way to Peace. This workshop aims to awaken an individual’s consciousness around his parental relational heritage, represented by the sum of his childhood experiences. It then shows how this heritage can be transformed so that the individual can become a boon for humanity. Prior to the workshop the School presented a sketch which illustrated the process of reproduction from generation to generation. This workshop had an audience of about twenty.
